How to Cook Turkey Meatballs?
There are a couple of different ways I like to cook these high protein turkey meatballs.
- Baked in the oven. This method is probably the easiest and most versatile! I would recommend this method if you’re lazy like me and just want to throw them all in at once and get it done. You can add the sauce afterwards and pretty much have these meatballs with whatever you like!
- The Air Fryer – This is one of my favourite tools to use in the kitchen! It is super fast, and great at maintaining moisture, especially in meat! The downside vs the oven for these meatballs is that you have to move them around every few minutes to keep the cook even throughout the meatball
- Pan sear and cook in sauce. This is probably the tastiest method because you get the added flavour of the sauce and frying in the pan. After you do this you cook the rest of the meatball in the sauce and it will absorb a lot of flavour. This method takes longer and requires more clean up though.
Is Ground Turkey Healthier Than Ground Beef?
Yes, turkey can be a healthier option than red meat, particularly if you’re watching your calorie and fat intake. Ground turkey, especially lean ground turkey, contains less saturated fat compared to ground beef. This lower fat content makes turkey a great choice for heart health and managing cholesterol levels. Turkey is also a good source of protein, vitamins, and minerals, providing essential nutrients to keep your body running smoothly. Plus, choosing ground turkey over ground beef means less grease during cooking, which can lead to easier cleanup and a lighter meal. You can still enjoy the same satisfying flavors by using ground turkey in your favorite recipes, from burgers to tacos and meatballs. Making the switch to ground turkey can be a smart choice for those looking for healthier alternatives without sacrificing taste!
High Protein Turkey Meatballs
Ingredients
- 900g ground turkey
- ½ tbsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 egg yolks
- 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp italian seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp chicken stock powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients.
- Take small portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms to form meatballs of your desired size. But about 1 inch is ideal for cooking. Make sure they are evenly sized for consistent cooking
- Place the formed meatballs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each meatball to allow for even cooking.
- Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake the meatballs for about 20-25 minutes or until they are cooked through and golden brown on the outside. You can check for doneness by cutting one meatball open to ensure it's no longer pink in the center.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. You can serve them with your favourite sauce, pasta, or as appetizers. Enjoy your delicious turkey meatballs!
